Genesis

I needed to free up some space on my hard drive, so I went through my documents folder to see what I could get rid of. I’m a keeper by nature, so I usually have things “just in case” I need to refer back to them. Unfortunately, this leads to having lots of notes and lists that can actually be discarded. As I was perusing the files, I found the beginnings of my business. While I’ve officially been in business since 2018, the birth of D.M. Watson Consulting, LLC began many years before.

I first had the idea of becoming an entrepreneur when I was in college. Back then, I had no idea what kind of business I wanted to run. I just liked the idea of being my own boss and having employees to boss around. Fast forward 20 years and I am thankful to say that my perspective on owning my own business has changed a great deal. Looking at my files showed me how starting a business and running it is like making a piece of pottery. You start with a nondescript lump and little by little, you shape and form it into a piece of art.

My business today doesn’t look much like the lump of clay I started with. Its substance is the same, but it has been carefully shaped and formed into a creation that has purpose. D.M. Watson Consulting, LLC is still in the making, and I am looking forward to its continued genesis.
