An Epiphany

I took a big step today. I made a $400 decision in the moment. Now that may not be a big deal for some, but for me, it was a huge milestone in my professional growth. By nature, I’m a cautious, analytical person. With any monetary decision I need to make, I usually take months to mull it over and determine all the risks and opportunity costs before making a purchase. For the past four years, I have been slowly building my company and since I started, I’ve been on high alert to make wise business decisions. Every cent mattered and I was diligent to not waste one of them.

But today was different. I had an epiphany during a networking event. I am no longer at the start of my start-up. Purchases I needed to be super frugal about back then, I can be uninhibited about now. And while I am not going to stop being mindful of how I spend my business dollars, I am going to remember that because I cultivated wise spending habits as a new entrepreneur, I can trust myself to be a wise spender. And that means I can make purchases that make sense for my business on a whim.

Today I am in a new place as a business owner and I am excited to see how I lead myself into the future.
