Values

One challenge I did not anticipate as an entrepreneur was that of maintaining my values. I knew there could be challenges to my ethics, but I didn’t think that different things would cause me to decide between advancing my business and compromising my values. 

Recently, I have discovered that I place a high value on authenticity. As a businesswoman, I strive to maintain a consistent brand that reflects professionalism, excellence, and integrity. Since my business is named after me, my brand reflects me directly. I hold myself to a high standard and my business principles are no different. 

As I navigate various situations, I remember that my business will not be successful if I am not authentic. If I compromise my values for current affairs, trends, shortcuts, etc., I have betrayed myself and will not be happy with the regret it will cause, regardless of how profitable it is. Each person has to decide what works for them. If you are facing circumstances that conflict with your values, don’t let the fear of missing out cause you to compromise. Most things are not “once in a lifetime.” And if the choice will leave you disliking yourself, it isn’t worth it.
