Case Study: Director’s Disconnect

The Challenge: New Executive Director needed to connect operations with the vision

The client’s Board of Directors (BoD) had just appointed the founder as the new Executive Director (ED). The ED needed assistance with connecting the administrative operations of the organization with its vision. D.M. Watson Consulting was brought in to advise the ED of the administrative tasks and how to manage them. Through weekly meetings, I helped to identify which tasks were the responsibility of the ED and which belonged to other members of the BoD or could be outsourced. I also reviewed fundraising plans and team retreat and provided guidance on how to ensure they would be effective.

The Outcome: The Executive Director gained insight on how to delegate and manage tasks so that the operations did not interfere with their focus on achieving the vision.
